BIBLE PROPHECY A Forthright Overview On this site Bible Prophecy is explored from a long forgotten perspective. Over a century ago all Evangelical Christians viewed prophecy in the way that we present it here. Without these views the Reformation would have failed, the Gospel message would have faded from memory, and the dark ages would still continue unabated. The prophetic view that we present is called the "The Protestant Interpretation of Bible Prophecy." Authors have given this view several names including Historical View, Continuous View, Traditional View, Reformed View and recently the Unpopular View. I am simply calling it the Protestant View because all Evangelical-Protestants followed it for hundreds of years. (Not all followers of the Protestant view have seen every point alike but they have all held to a central core of beliefs.)In the early centuries of the Roman Church there was much speculation about who or what the man of sin might be. Normally, those within the Roman Church taught that the antichrist would appear shortly before Christ's coming and would be manifest as a wicked individual. However, a second opinion emerged outside of the Roman Church. This view was put forward by people that were born again and quite Evangelical. These persecuted saints were witnessing the unparalleled wickedness, vice, and blood thirstyness of the Roman Church. Because of their love for the Scriptures they were also crushed by Rome's Iron heal. In the face of such persecution all Evangelicals drew one conclusion. All born again Christians firmly asserted that the Church of Rome embodied the spirit of antichrist and was the fulfillment of the Man of Sin, Daniel's 4th beast and the Beast of Revelation. No other opinion existed except within the Church of Rome. Today, old prophetic faith is all but forgotten. Fear not! We have unearthed this neglected treasure and discovered it to be one of the great foundation stones of Evangelicalism. It certainly deserves a serious review by all prophecy scholars. One Area of Controversy I hear some impatiently asking, Q. "So what are you presenting? Is it the Amillennial, Post-millennial or Pre-millennial view of prophecy?" A. We are decidedly Pre-millennial as we ponder the old Protestant view of Bible Prophecy. Many Post-millennialists also accept some of our ideas but they were late comers to prophetic interpretation and changed some of the original suppositions of the early Evangelicals. Q. "Do you espouse the Pre-, Mid-, or Post-trib' rapture?" A. Please bear with us, you must first understand the old Protestant interpretation of Bible Prophecy before you can rightly interpret our ideas about the rapture. For example, would you answer yes or no to the following questions. "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" or "Have you stopped robbing banks?" Answer yes or no and don't confuse the issue! Our answer is not a trick to draw people from one view of the rapture to another. This is not the aim of our page. The purpose of our page is to promote an increased knowledge of Bible Prophecy and Christian History. The rapture is a precious truth and will be addressed. However, first gain a working knowledge of the Protestant view of Bible Prophecy and afterward consider the timing of the rapture. Only then can you fully understand our answer. We will make the following statement to give a hint of our position. We joyfully watch for the literal and imminent coming of Christ in the sky.
